One Way Flight
July 11, 2014

Sometimes the best way to go on an adventure is to let that adventure find you. We started off with a dream to go to Sardinia and we were searching on workaway.info to find a place in which we could volunteer at in Sardinia, while learning Italian, and eating healthy! We found the perfect place that met our requirements and were eager to get on the way. We kept seraching for flights but could not find anything cheaper that $550 one way to Roma so we decided to wait. We began to notice that all the flights to Rome were stopping in either Bergen, Oslo, or Copenhagen. We hadn't even heard of Bergen a $220 one-way ticket it was not hard to convince us of visiting the 2nd most populous city in Norway, thank you Norwegian Air. We thought, "Let's start our epic adventure in Bergen and use the "extra $330" to in our adventure to Rome (Dohop.com indicated flights from Oslo to Rome for less than $50) We left NYC on July 11th, 2014 with a mission to connect with locals by volunteering at different farms, production facilities, homes, and through personal connections and websites like workaway.info. Through volunteering we could live/eat for free, explore new places, learn the local language, and encounter food Made with Love. We felt riskless in our plan because if we knew that the most satisfication we receive when we travel (regardless of budget) is through making new friends! By volunteering, we are naturally creating mutual relationships that we hope to turn into long-lasting friendships while learning new trades and skills along the way and documenting it all so that we can share our lessons with the world!
